We’re about to release a mobile daily agenda view of calendars stored on Calgoo Hub. This will allow people who publish a calendar to Calgoo Hub to view it on the browser of their mobile phone.
While this is a useful utility, I personally find integration with the native calendar programs on mobile devices more useful. However, standards become an issue. If you consider “smart phones” i.e. Windows Mobile, Palm OS, Blackberry, iPhone and the like, none of them support SyncML natively. SyncML is the only standard in the mobile sync space that has some semblance of adoption. However, developers aren’t particularly fond of it and there are major players, particularly in smart phones, who don’t support it.
We need some sort of rationalization around syncing standards for mobile devices.

Hi Chief Owl,
Totally agree, that’s why we built http://www.goosync.com around the SyncML standard, it synchronizes Calendars, Contacts and Tasks with any SyncML compliant device including iPhone, Palm, Windows Mobile, blackberry, Nokia, Motorola etc. (see http://www.goosync.com/SupportedDevices.aspx for a full list).
Give it a go, it’s free.

Chris,
How do you reconcile the fact that none of the major smart phones natively support SyncML? Does this give you cause for concern that SyncML may be on the way out?
Cheers, Andrzej
